Migraine and Headache Care at BPHAC

Acupuncture is an effective, evidence-based treatment for reducing the frequency and intensity of chronic tension-type headaches and migraines.

It works by stimulating nerves, increasing blood flow, and releasing natural painkillers like endorphins.

Research suggests it can be as effective as preventive medication, with fewer side effects.

If you have been dealing with recurring headaches, migraines, or symptoms that seem to come out of nowhere, there is a reason your body keeps returning to this pattern.

Why BPHAC Is Different

Migraines are one of our top specialties.

By using points along facial pathways and affecting the way that vasoconstriction and dilation work in the body, we are able to modulate and fix headaches that have plagued you for years.

We can even treat headaches that have been resistant to medication.

Most approaches treat headaches as isolated events. At BPHAC, we treat them as part of a larger system involving your nervous system, circulation, hormones, and stress response.

Real talk: if you are only chasing the pain, you are missing the reason it keeps coming back.

Most treatments focus on stopping the headache. We focus on stopping the pattern that creates it.

What’s Actually Going On

Why Headaches Keep Coming Back

Headaches are not random.

They are often the result of how the body is regulating blood flow, nerve signaling, and stress.

Migraines in particular are closely tied to the way blood vessels in the head constrict and dilate.

When this system becomes dysregulated, it can trigger recurring pain patterns.

The Systems Behind Headaches

Headaches are often influenced by:

  • Nervous system regulation
  • Blood flow and circulation
  • Hormonal changes
  • Muscle tension (especially neck and jaw)
  • Stress and environmental triggers

When these systems are not working together, the body can fall into patterns that repeatedly trigger headaches.

Real talk: your body is not randomly giving you headaches. It has learned a pattern—and it will keep running it until something changes.

Real talk: your body is not randomly giving you headaches. It is following a pattern.

How Acupuncture Helps

Acupuncture works by addressing the systems that contribute to headaches and migraines.

What Acupuncture Does in the Body

Modulates blood flow and vascular response

Regulates the nervous system

Reduces muscle tension in the neck, jaw, and shoulders

Releases endorphins and natural painkillers

Reduces inflammation

Why This Matters for Migraines

By influencing blood flow, nervous system activity, and muscle tension, acupuncture helps reduce both the frequency and intensity of headaches.

This allows the body to move out of reactive cycles and into more stable patterns.

This is why acupuncture can be effective even for patients who have not responded to medication.

This is how we help you feel better—and stay better.

What to Expect During Treatment

Every treatment is custom and personalized.

In your first treatment, we have a full health history, review imaging, review new patient paperwork and do any relevant testing.

You will also receive a full treatment at that appointment.

We tell every patient to plan on coming once a week for three weeks initially.

At that third appointment we see what has changed, what is better, and what is still to be addressed.

From there, your practitioner will work with you to establish a treatment plan moving forward.
