Acupuncture in
Buffalo, NY

You have arrived at the solution to your problems.

Most people are used to treating symptoms one at a time. At BPHAC, we treat the systems that connect them—so you can actually get better.

Why BPHAC is Different

Our practitioners are the foremost in WNY. They have extensive experience and have gone through full TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) doctoral programs.

Our clinic also prides itself on our team approach. Every patient is treated with curiosity and the full breadth of our knowledge. When you have multiple practitioners from different disciplines working in a shared space, you create an environment that values problem solving and critical thinking.

When you come to BPHAC, you are not just working with one provider—you are supported by a full team that collaborates to understand your case from multiple perspectives. This creates better outcomes, more thoughtful care plans, and a level of attention that is difficult to find in a standard acupuncture clinic.

Most clinics rely on one perspective. That’s why complex cases often stay unresolved.

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is more than a fad or a last-ditch effort. It is a well-studied and systematized way of treating the body.

Real talk: acupuncture isn’t a last resort—it’s often what works when everything else hasn’t.

It is not just a way of treating disorders and symptoms, but a philosophy that guides treatment. We look at what a person is experiencing through physical, emotional, and social diagnostics—what we often refer to as the bio, psycho, social model. The end result is truly holistic care.

With acupuncture, we use the peripheral nervous system, circulatory pathways, and myofascial connections in the body to treat functional disorders (anything that isn’t fixed by medications or surgery). By looking at these systems as interrelated, we are able to connect health history, current symptoms, and lifestyle to help you heal.

Acupuncture is a complete approach to care. If you are experiencing multiple, seemingly disconnected symptoms, our team is here to treat you, make sense of them, and solve them simultaneously.

02
How Acupuncture Treats the Root Cause

Acupuncture works by engaging the systems in your body that regulate healing.
We use the peripheral nervous system, circulatory pathways, and myofascial connections to restore function. These systems are not separate—they are constantly interacting.
By working through these systems, we are able to:

  • Improve blood flow
  • Regulate the nervous system
  • Reduce pain signaling
  • Improve communication between different parts of the body

This is why acupuncture is so effective for conditions that seem unrelated or persistent. Instead of treating symptoms in isolation, we treat the system as a whole.
This is why symptoms that seem unrelated often improve together.

03

Mental Health & Stress Connection

Acupuncture is not only used for physical symptoms—it is also highly effective for easing stress and mental strain.

Part of working in a community of skilled providers is understanding how mental health impacts physical health, and vice versa.

We understand the ways that stress, anxiety, and physical discomfort not only arrive in the body together, but can create a cycle that keeps people feeling unwell.

Signs of anxiety that may not register as anxiety include:

  • Being constantly busy
  • Broken or light sleep
  • Chronic muscle tightness
  • Constipation
  • Changes in weight or appetite

Our practitioners use a trauma-informed and careful approach when working through these patterns. We are here for all aspects of your health, and we encourage you to seek the care you need.

06
Pain Relief & Chronic Conditions

Chronic pain is never simply the result of the original injury.

Of course, scar tissue and structural damage need to be addressed, but chronic pain is often the result of how your nervous system has adapted to keep you safe.

Pain can arise from:

  • Compensatory movement patterns
  • Circulatory issues
  • Peripheral nervous system dysfunction

If tissue and bone are healed within 6 weeks, why would pain persist?

A good acupuncturist evaluates the nervous system, circulation, and guarding patterns in the body. Through this process, we are able to identify why pain is still present and create a plan to resolve it.

Pain should not be something you just learn to live with.

08
Sports Performance & Recovery

Acupuncture is highly effective for recovery and performance.

It improves:

  • Blood flow
  • Oxygenation to muscles
  • Recovery time
  • Flexibility
  • Muscle activation

It also helps regulate the nervous system, improving sleep, reducing stress, and allowing athletes to train and recover more effectively.
We combine acupuncture with movement, posture work, and Softwave therapy to create a complete system of care.

09
Advanced Treatment – Shockwave Therapy

This is one of the tools we use when your body needs an extra push to heal.

Shockwave therapy can be used as a stand-alone treatment or alongside acupuncture and physical therapy.

It works by sending short bursts of sound energy into injured tissue, which:

  • Increases blood flow
  • Breaks up scar tissue
  • Stimulates tissue repair
  • Reduces pain signals

The shockwave machine creates high-energy acoustic waves that stimulate the body’s natural healing response, calling stem cells to the area and promoting recovery.

What to Expect During Treatment

Every treatment is personalized.

At your first visit, we:

  • Take a full health history
  • Review imaging (if applicable)
  • Review new patient paperwork
  • Perform any relevant testing

You will also receive a full treatment during that appointment.

Before treatment, we explain exactly what acupuncture feels like. Even patients who are nervous are able to get through the session and often feel relief within the first few visits.

Because acupuncture works with your nervous system, treatments often create a sense of calm and restfulness.

Most patients receive:

  • Homework
  • Resources
  • A structured treatment plan

New patients should expect to come once per week for 3–5 visits to begin creating lasting change.

This is not magic—it takes time to reorganize and fix a problem. Our goal is long-term relief, and your practitioner will create a plan to support your progress even after symptoms improve.
